The Pikeville Utilities Department provides the town with electric power service, safe drinking water, and wastewater collection and treatment services. Click here for utility policies and rate information.
The town is a member of ElectriCities, a North Carolina consortium of electric-distributor municipalities, and purchases wholesale electricity from Duke Energy Progress Corporation; the town also contracts with Duke Power to provide maintenance services for our electric system.
Drinking water is purchased in bulk from Wayne County and distributed via the town’s water system. Click here to see the 2016 Clean Water Consumer Confidence Report (CCR); Fremont is included because that town is a backup water supplier.
Wastewater is treated at our secondary treatment plant/retention lagoons, and effluent is spray-irrigated onto several fields.
Utility services are provided to properties within and outside town for both residences and commercial establishments,
The Public Works Director manages the town’s utilities employees and is responsible for the efficient delivery of these services. The Operations Superintendant coordinates town utilities activities and reports to the Town Administrator in the Administrator’s capacity as Public Works Director.
